Попал под отмену, вернее под перенос рейса на неудобный день. Варианты предложенные авиакомпанией: возврат денег, пересадка на другие авиакомпании, обмен билета в другой город без доплаты. Варианты 2 и 3 вполне достойные.

For Airbus A220 operator AirBaltic, the path to Starlink was a long one, says Pauls Calitis, the airline’s chief operating officer and acting CEO.

“We went from not having any connectivity to having the best connectivity there is,” he tells Aviation Week. The carrier also looked at using legacy technology to add connectivity, considering both technical and commercial factors, but it never managed to make the business case add up from a customer experience and an investment point of view—until Starlink came along, Calitis says.

Around 10 of the airline’s 50 A220s are now equipped with Starlink connectivity, and the Latvian carrier is aiming to have the majority of them equipped by year-end. Initial feedback from passengers has been positive, and Calitis is convinced Starlink was worth the wait.

“It’s not just internet connectivity,” he says. “It’s equivalent, if not better, to the service that you have at your workstation, at home or on the move. And it’s available to you from the moment you’re within range of the aircraft, from start to finish. It’s seamless. That’s something you can only get with Starlink.”

For AirBaltic, it is not just about the passenger connectivity experience, even if the speed “is like nothing you’ve ever experienced on an airplane,” Calitis says.

The airline hopes that Starlink will help it boost its own ancillary revenue by improving what it can offer to passengers onboard.

“We have a pretty extensive plan of how to build on the connectivity from the product-offering side,” Calitis notes. “Probably by the end of the year, we are launching a very dedicated AirBaltic customer experience.”

The airline also plans to partner with retailers to present opportunities or offers to passengers.

The technology has positive implications for airline operations, too. “We’re also able to remove some legacy communication systems and infrastructure and move now to internet-based communication, which is much more efficient, cheaper, faster and seamless,” Calitis says.
