Thank you for your email dated 28 June. I am sorry to hear your flight was delayed when travelling from London Heathrow to Moscow. I can understand your frustration, as you were unable to find any facilities for Premium passengers and almost missed your connecting flight to Saint Petersburg. Please also accept my apologies for the time it has taken for us to respond to you.
We carry out an investigation when there is a delay. This helps us to understand what we could have done to prevent it. On this occasion, your flight was delayed as a bird flew in to the cockpit. For our part in customer relations, we make sure that what you tell us is heard at the most senior level in our airline, through our regular statistical reports and by passing up individual comments to our Board every month.
We recognise that it is essential for us to improve our current performance on punctuality. In fact our Chief Executive, Keith Williams, has made it one of British Airways’ key priorities. His team are working closely with every department that has a bearing on punctuality. They have put measures in place to make sure delays are kept to an absolute minimum, so we can get customers on their way as soon as possible and improve our punctuality record.
As a Silver card member of our Executive Club, I would like to apologise for the fact there is no lounge in T5C. However, as I'm sure you will know, you are permitted to access the lounges in T5A and T5B and could have done so, making your way to T5C at your convenience.
By way of an apology, I have added 5,000 Avios to your Silver Executive Club account. Please accept them with my compliments. Subject to availability, you can put your Avios towards future bookings, or use them to upgrade your travel class when you fly with us again. They can also be used for hotels and car hire.
