Incident: UPS B752 at Winnipeg on Jan 22nd 2013, uncommanded pitch up on final approach
A UPS United Parcel Service Boeing 757-200, registration N427UP performing flight 5X-496 from Minneapolis,MN (USA) to Winnipeg,MB (Canada) with 2 crew, was on a visual final approach to Winnipeg's runway 18 descending through 2000 feet when the aircraft pitched up without pilot input, the nose rose by 10 degrees before the crew pushed the yoke forward. The crew went around, declared emergency and positioned for an ILS approach to runway 13, which concluded with a safe landing.
The Canadian TSB reported that the autopilot was off at the time, there was no stabilizer trim input. Maintenance is about to replace the left air data computer and the stabilizer trim/elevator limit asymmetry module.
