ADS - Angle Of Attack Sensor – Description of Function
ADS - Angle Of Attack Sensor
Description of Function
Description
1.
Description
The AOA (Angle of Attack) function makes high-integrity, high-availability AOA (Angle of Attack) data. These airplane systems use the data:
●
PFCF (Primary Flight Control Function)
●
AFF (Autoflight Function)
●
Other systems.
The AOA (Angle of Attack) function uses these signals to make a voted output:
●
Two dual AOA (Angle of Attack) sensors
●
Synthetic AOA (Angle of Attack).
The AOA (Angle of Attack) function uses inputs from these functions and systems:
●
ADRF (Air Data Reference Function)
●
LGI (Landing Gear Indication)– gear position
●
Earth reference fault management function
●
PFCF (Primary Flight Control Function)–SPDBRK (Speedbrake) and STAB (Stabilizer)POS (Position)
●
HLF (High Lift Function)– flap position.
The FCE (Flight Control Electronics) applications do these basic AOA (Angle of Attack) functions:
●
Make analog signals
●
Change the AOA (Angle of Attack) sensor signals to AOA (Angle of Attack)
●
Monitor the AOA (Angle of Attack) sensor signals.
The FCE (Flight Control Electronics) applications correct the vane signals for local flow effects. The FCE (Flight Control Electronics) applications use vane-to-body corrections.
It is necessary to have the three AOA (Angle of Attack) signals for the FCE (Flight Control Electronics) to make a voted output. The FCE (Flight Control Electronics)s use inertial AOA (Angle of Attack) with an aerodynamic AOA (Angle of Attack) to make a synthetic AOA (Angle of Attack). The synthetic AOA (Angle of Attack) is the third AOA (Angle of Attack) signal. The FCE (Flight Control Electronics) use dynamic pressure, the airplane weight estimate, and normal acceleration to make the aerodynamic AOA (Angle of Attack) estimate.
The ADRF (Air Data Reference Function) makes the control signals to the PDS (Power Distribution System) for the AOA (Angle of Attack) sensor case and vane heaters. The PDS (Power Distribution System) sends data to the three ADRF (Air Data Reference Function)s. The ADRF (Air Data Reference Function)s monitor the data for the condition of the heaters and the heater control components. The ADRF (Air Data Reference Function) sends the conditions of the heater circuits. The FCE (Flight Control Electronics) function that calculates the AOA (Angle of Attack) uses the condition of the AOA (Angle of Attack) sensors to select the correct inputs.
